Free, anonymous — takes 2 minutes
Answer four questions. We’ll show you every program available to you — free programs first, in the order most likely to work for your situation. Over half of all people living with HIV in the US already access care through programs like the ones in this tool.
How this tool works
This tool matches your situation — insurance type, state, and household income — against every major medication assistance program in the United States and the federal HIV care system in Mexico. It shows you the option most likely to work first. If that one doesn’t apply, you can reveal the next option. No account required, no information stored.
Programs covered: Gilead Advancing Access (manufacturer assistance), 50-state ADAP (federally funded, state-administered through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program), Medicaid, Medicare Extra Help, Patient Advocate Foundation / TotalAssist, and CENSIDA / IMSS / ISSSTE / state CAPASITS in Mexico. State data for the 15 highest-prevalence states is verified and current as of May 2026.
Common questions
Yes. The Gilead Advancing Access patient assistance program provides free Biktarvy and other Gilead HIV medications to qualifying uninsured US patients with household income up to approximately 500% of the federal poverty level. Your state ADAP provides free HIV medications regardless of citizenship in many states. Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program clinics provide free or sliding-scale care. The screener walks you through which program is the best fit.
No. We collect zero personally identifying information. We never ask for your name, email, phone, or date of birth. We log only the anonymous pathway you took (insurance type, state, income range, prescriber status) so we can improve the tool — never anything that could identify you.
ADAP stands for AIDS Drug Assistance Program — federally funded, state-administered programs that provide HIV medications to low-income individuals who are uninsured or underinsured. Each state sets its own income limit. Florida ADAP covers up to 400% of the federal poverty level (about $63,000 single). California ADAP covers up to 500% FPL (about $78,250). Texas THMP covers up to 200% FPL (about $31,300). All states require proof of HIV diagnosis, residency, and income.
Apply to Gilead Advancing Access directly at 1-800-226-2056 for free Biktarvy while your state application is processed. Ryan White clinics can also dispense medications through 340B pricing while you wait.
Yes. The screener routes Mexico-resident patients to CENSIDA, IMSS, ISSSTE, and verified state CAPASITS in Mexico City (Clínica Especializada Condesa), Jalisco (CAE Guadalajara, CAPASITS Puerto Vallarta), and Nuevo León (CAPASITS Monterrey, Apodaca). Mexican antiretroviral therapy is provided free through the public system.
Florida ADAP removed Biktarvy from its uninsured formulary effective 2025 due to budget constraints. Uninsured Florida residents living with HIV should apply to Gilead Advancing Access first (1-800-226-2056) for free Biktarvy. Florida ADAP still covers other HIV regimens.
Yes — every legitimate HIV medication assistance program requires a valid prescription, and most require your prescriber to complete a co-enrollment form. If you don’t have a prescriber yet, a Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program clinic provides care on a sliding-fee scale and their staff help you apply for assistance at the same visit. Find the nearest clinic at findhivcare.hrsa.gov.
Undetectable equals Untransmittable. People living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load through consistent antiretroviral therapy have effectively zero risk of sexually transmitting HIV to a partner. Confirmed by HPTN 052, PARTNER, PARTNER2, and Opposites Attract studies; endorsed by the NIH, CDC, UNAIDS, and over 1,100 organizations in 105 countries.
How we built this tool:
SunnyPharma follows strict sourcing guidelines. Program data is verified against primary sources: NASTAD ADAP Watch (state ADAP income limits, formulary, waitlist status), HRSA Ryan White data (clinic network, 340B participation), CMS Extra Help thresholds, the Federal Poverty Level published annually by HHS, manufacturer program documentation (Gilead Advancing Access), and the CENSIDA Directorio CAPASITS (March 2026) for Mexican CAPASITS verification. State data refreshed May 2026.
