About SunnyPharma — Independent Health Education

SunnyPharma is an independent health education platform built for one job: helping people who cannot easily afford their medication find a way to pay less. When a prescription costs more than a paycheck, the problem is rarely a lack of options — it is that the options are buried, confusing, or never explained. We exist to surface them.

SunnyPharma accepts no funding from pharmaceutical companies and earns no commission on the programs it recommends. This independence is by design: our guidance points to the most affordable legitimate option for the reader, never the most profitable one for us.

Our mission: To route cost-burdened patients through every free and low-cost way to afford their treatment — patient assistance programs, copay cards, and government and state programs first — and to explain each one in plain language so people can act on it the same day.

How we approach cost

Most pages that mention drug prices stop at the list price and leave you there. We do the opposite. For every medication we cover, we work down a ladder of access — from the routes that can bring your cost to zero, to the ones that simply make it manageable — and we tell you what to do at each rung.

Start at the top Move down only if a rung doesn’t cover you.
1
Free & manufacturer assistance
Patient assistance programs and copay cards can bring out-of-pocket cost to nothing for people who qualify. We always start here.

2
Government & state programs
The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and state AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP) cover people private insurance misses. Rules vary by state, so we map them out.
Low
3
Insurance & pharmacy strategy
Formulary navigation, generics where they exist, and pharmacy price comparison close much of the remaining gap.

4
International pricing — context only
What medications cost in places such as Canada, Mexico, and India, so you understand the global picture. This is educational background, never a recommendation to buy across borders.

What we cover

We deliberately stay narrow. Going deep on a few therapeutic areas serves cost-burdened patients better than spreading thin across many. Our coverage is:

Primary focus
HIV Treatment
Antiretroviral therapy, drug costs, side effects, and access programs — including in-depth coverage of Biktarvy, Dovato, and the broader ART landscape.
Therapeutic area
Hepatitis C Therapy
Direct-acting antiviral options, pricing, insurance coverage, and the path to a cure — including guides on Epclusa, Harvoni, and comparable DAAs.
Therapeutic area
Weight Management
Evidence-based coverage of prescription weight-management medications, including clinical data, candidacy, and cost and access information.
Therapeutic area
Anticoagulants
Cost and access information for the blood thinners Xarelto and Eliquis, including assistance programs and what patients actually pay.

How our content is produced

Cost guidance is only useful if it is accurate. Every page on SunnyPharma is written by a credentialed medical writer and reviewed by a licensed physician before it goes live, and every clinical claim is tied to a primary source — FDA prescribing information, published trial data, or government and specialty-society guidelines. Reviewer and writer names appear on each article they touch.

Physician-reviewed
A licensed physician reviews every page for clinical accuracy before publication. No anonymous review.
Fully referenced
Clinical claims link to primary sources — FDA labels, trial publications, and government and specialty-society guidelines — not secondary media.
Conflict-free
No pharmaceutical advertising, no sponsored content, and no commission on anything. Commercial separation is absolute.
Plain language
Written to be understood and acted on by any adult, without a medical degree and without a translator.
Our editorial commitment: Every page on SunnyPharma is written to a documented editorial standard — mandatory medical review, source citation, and clear disclosure of what this platform is and is not. We do not sell medication, accept sponsored content, or steer readers toward specific pharmacies or commercial services. Everything we recommend points to clinician-led decisions, manufacturer assistance programs, and government resources. Read our full editorial policy →
